University of East Anglia (UEA)
Opened in 1963, one of the sixties generation of universities — UEA most recently celebrated its 50th anniversary — the University of East Anglia is an increasingly popular campus-based university, just a couple of miles from the centre of Norwich.
The university consistently makes the top 10 in the national student satisfaction survey and came third in the latest Times Higher Education student experience survey. The student union was also voted the best student venue in the country by the music industry’s Live! Magazine, and top student union in the latest WhatUni student choice awards.
The University of East Anglia is the first UK university to offer courses in Creative Writing, Environmental Sciences and Development Studies, champion of interdisciplinary subjects and also first university to study climate change with over 40 years’ experience through our Climatic Research Unit.
UEA boasts excellent sporting facilities, bars and cafes, and the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, not to mention some striking 1960s architecture. It prides itself on being at the forefront of green awareness, and is meeting its energy needs via its on-campus biomass generating plant. Of those who graduated in 2011-12, 92% were employed or in education six months after gaining their degree.
